Life Holds so many simple blessings, each day bringing its own individual wonder.

I had the opportunity to organized a charity event on behalf of my department. 19 0f us participated in that event. Photos are pending with 3 photographers. Nevertheless did I know that me and my team's hard work paid off at the end of the event. We chose Shan Home for Children this time, recommended by a colleague of mine. The centre was built in 2008 and back then, they only had 3 children to start of. Now they have 25 kids, consisting of 11 boys and 14 girls. They were quite shy when we first got there and was wondering who are we. They were having their breakfast and some of them are out for their first day of Secondary 1 registration. The home is situated in Mount Erskine, Penang. There were 2 volunteers when we almost finishes the activity. And they have tuition teacher who will come by after school to give them free lessons. I had the chance to chat with a 15 years old boy. I asked what is his ambition. He said he wants to be a scientist. Touching right? Wait till you involve yourself with this kind of event. You can't be prepared mentally because you won't know what to expect at this place.
There were so many things involved in making this event a successful one. Caterer to call, what food to order, organizing car pool and so on. I was at the binge of backing out due to the pressure of having to juggle so many things. But I would like to thank my team for helping me in terms of moral support and guidance. We had much fun at the centre. The look of their face when they received their wish list gift were priceless even though if it's only a color pencils. I nearly tear to be honest. How I thought I took so many things in my life for granted. How I complain about everything. I sat together with them during lunch and activities. This was my first ever charity event. Now I know how does it feel to really make good deeds to the needed people.
When the kids saw the McDonald that we ordered specially for them, they were pretty excited. I asked one of them, how often do they have the chance to eat, they said 'Very rare la Akka (sister)'. You won't believe that they're outspoken (once you're close to them), how well their manners are, and how discipline they're. Their daily schedule are arrange from the time they wake up until bedtime.
