Vanity Trove

Sounds sweet isn't it? So what is Vanity Trove?
Vanity Trove is a community that shares beauty tips virtually. They have it in Singapore, Indonesia and Malaysia. It's some what like Facebook but particularly on beauty products, beauty trick and tips. You can update your wishlist, what skincare product you're currently using, reviews.

I basically got my samples of branded beauty stuff from here. For as low as RM50 a month, you'll be able to get your hands on brands like Kose, Kanebo, SKII, Kiehl's and so on. There are 4 types of subscription you can choose from. As below, the Classic (I subscribed that), Gold, Diamond, Platinum.

For the classic subscription, you can either choose a Surprise Vanity or 6 choices of trial pack products. For the Surprise Vanity, VT will send you a box of random beauty products for you to try and it could be any brand. Mean while, for the 6 choices of VT, you can choose 6 types of products you wish(as below tables) and the choices changed often so that you'll a variety of them.

They have VT special range as well that you can choose from. It comes in 3 types with different pricing range. You can't choose the product as it comes default in every box.

For my first subscription, I got a set Kose skincare products. A cleanser, cleansing oil, UV block lotion, toner and night moisturizer, I have just subscribed again last week for the month of Oct till Nov. It's up to you whether or not you want to continue your subscription in the following month . If you make payment, you'll receive your box. But if you did not make any payment in the following month, VT will consider that you're not subscribing for that particular month. Easy right.

In a sense that this servcie gives you the flexibility of trying new product without burning a hole in your pocket. Also you can use your product as a gift for birthdays, events. But if you like the product, you can continue purchasing the original size instead of the trial sample (it comes in a sachet or bottle).

A helping hand

I stumbled across an article when I was scrolling down my Facebook. I think this is a good article that everyone should read. Courtesy knows no boundary, regardless who you're. This is a habit that we should teach our children.

At times I see people having dinner with their tables in such a mess. And best of all, they don't even feel ashame. They ate, paid the bill and went off. Leaving the next customer with a dirty table.

I'm a zombie

What have I been up to lately? Working my butt off in writing my theses for my final submission. I was lucky to have such a good and supportive supervisor. I owe her big time to be honest. I wasn't expecting that my viva will be in Nov as I thought my appeal to extend my semester until June 2014 was approved until my school called me last Monday (last week) and broke me this news. I was panicked. Hell yes, I panicked and I cried....as expected. Called my dad and told him the worst case scenario.

I was in a mess for the past 1 week. Walking around the office like a half-dead zombie. I was not in the mood at all. My time was dedicated in finishing up what I have started. How things change overnight, right?

One moment I was happy like a free bird, but within second, bad things came trembling on you. I was about to give up my MBA when I was told about this. I was thinking of dropping my MBA and re-start everything next year. But then again I thought, it's been 4 years so why should I quit now without even trying. It's not easy juggling 2 things between work and studies. You have to give up a lot in life, like me, my beauty sleep. Spending your weekends on your laptop.

I work in an environment where laptop is my best friend. So having to look at the screen again after working hours is just torturing but I had no choice. Everything that we do in this era, rely on that small and portable machine. At times, I feel sick looking at it.

Even my work station was in a mess, not just myself. But now, everything's done but it's not the end yet. I have my viva, final exam, term paper and article to be submitted. Believe me, I'm trying my very best to take things 1 step at a time. Completing each task individually and it's not easyyyyyyyyyyy.

The China House Chapter (overdue)

I have been hearing about China House from friends, seeing through blogs and Intagrams. So few weeks back, we decided to give it a try. It was an impromptu plan. We parked the car somewhere else and walked as parking was not convenient at that area.
China House is situated in Beach Street. An area full of old buildings. Right in the middle of the Heritage site. It is an old shop lot and later on was turned into a cafe, bar, performance theatre. The place was huge and it even has a courtyard.
It serves breakfast, lunch and dinner.

I ordered steak burger while Juan ordered some ginger something pasta. My steak burger came with salad as the side. But it wasn't to my expectations. The beef was hard and thick, full of fats and ligaments. The dressing was not bad but the salad was not enough of the dressings.

The price of the food was quite pricey. It's not comparable with the quality of the food. But if you have sweet tooth,  then you've found the perfect place. The have a variety of desserts. You can choose them according to your taste bud.

As for the pasta that Juan ordered, it tasted sweet and non-spicy. But I guess the ginger covered the real taste of the pasta. So he didn't enjoy it either and ate only 1/4 of it

The tea comes in a big teapot. So I suggest if you share it with someone and yes, you can even request to refill it.

The celebration of love

It was a weekend full of laughter, lack of sleep and eating. It was my cousin's wedding and it was at The Duchess Place, Ampang. I was there from Friday night till Sunday. The food was not bad. I enjoyed the ambience but not the food. If you prefer garden decoration, then this will be a perfect spot for your wedding. Other than that, not much to talk about .
Parking was a slight problem as the area has a very limited space. So if you have an event to attend,  you might want to arrive at the venue at least an hour earlier or maybe carpool.

Apart from that, I was looking forward to meeting the rest of the family members. Some came all the way from Johor, K.Trengganu and S'pore. This is the time where everyone gather at the very same place. Updating each other on what's going on in each other's life, who's next on the line to get married, future plans and so on. We basically grew up together.

Looking back on old photos that my mum kept, I felt the time passed so quickly. To the extend that at times, I forget how it was like when I was small. Riding bicycle together, playing games, laughing. I could still remember many years back, the night before Chinese New Year each year, all cousins will gather and played fire crackers together. I miss those good old days, in fact. But you know, I'm glad that the bond is still there. We didn't became stranger as time goes by.

I'm looking forward to many years to come. Looking at all my nieces and nephews growing. Be with them throughout their steps in life..........

Eating clean

Well, just so you know, I weight 40kg and standing at 156cm. Pretty short and light for an average 29 years old girl right. Well, behind the scene, I love eating oily food, deep fried food. The oilier the food is, the better. I even cooked my food with slightly extra oil.
But............even since I decided to get married, I know that I can't continue eating like this. If I don't change the way I eat now, I might need to forever alter my wedding dress and there will come a point where, even the tailor wouldn't want to alter my dresses any more.
So I will practise eating clean from today onwards. Well, what is eating clean? Eating clean simply means, the process of avoiding processed and refined foods and basing your diet on whole foods.

So what I did was, I decided to replace my usual meal which contain rice with sandwiches. But only during weekdays. During weekends, I'll eat what ever I want. Belasah jer. I use to eat 2 pieces of bread with egg last time. Almost everyday but I stopped at one point. But now I'm continuing back.

I've got my new baby

I have never purchased anything expensive for myself before. Minus my home and my baby, Vi. Both are my most precious toys one could ever ask for. It comes together with a 40 years of commitment and one of them are fragile, Vi.

Aside with that. I've been wanting to get myself a good camera. A camera that would last me for many years. As a person who has  zero knowledge about camera, thank God, I met Delon (we met way back in high school tuition center in Alor Star). He introduced me to Panasonic LX7. A compact SLR camera that will also fit into my handbag. I wanted a HD camera that I can carry around. Not those big and bulky ones. Coincidently, my cousin's wedding is next week, so it was a good time to get one.

Plus, the whole family will be able to use this camera as well. My dad loves to take photos. He even kept his 30 years old, back when he was young.

Below are one of the photos I took using macro setting. I love macro. I love taking photos of everything with macro mode. Psycho right. This camera is user friendly. Suitable for a camera-bimbo like me.  You can view more on the product description at Panasonic webpage
