Malaysia is truly beautiful

This post is inspired by one of the many Coca-cola advert which was produced in the United States. Watch more here.

I'm India and I'm Malaysian.
I'm Chinese and I'm Malaysian.
I'm Siamese and I'm Malaysian.
I'm Singh and I'm Malaysian.

Racism is such a big issue everywhere. Unlike our ancestor's years, they all worked and stay side by side. But today, things has changed.

I love Malaysia. I practically grew and raised here. I would never trade anything for this. I love the national parks, zoos, the Petronas Twin Towers, the food, and we share the same language. Even most Indians can speak Chinese nowadays. Basically we're one country. Everyone and every ethnicity fight hard to obtain what we have now. I believe there's a lot of stuffs and freedom on what we can do for as long as we work together.
Regardless of what cultural background you come from, at the end of the day, we stay in the same country. No one is consider as outsiders in Malaysia. Malaysia is a country where we can learn to work, unite and get along together and in order to gain respect from other countries. Malaysia is a country rich in cultural diversity and nice people, but these things change when it comes to treating our own fellow Malaysians. Why is that? Because we often stereotype people, we curse on other people's beliefs. We create prejudice towards each other and we judge people.

People grow and we're always in the learning phase. Learning about each other has no end. You tend to find new and interesting facts about one another. Instead of fighting with each other about being different, why not we focus on being thankful and grateful with what we have now. We have the chance to walk along the street without being afraid of being shot at point blank. We can even have dinner with our family at home.

So instead of judging or making fun of other races, why not we find solutions on how to live together under one country. We wasted so much time on finding ways to get rid of each other. The words which were thrown at each other, the curse and all the vulgar words. I come from a family that has a different cultural background and we get along fine. What can't the rest of you? Don't blame others for the mistake you have done in the past, don't pass down the stereotype and judgmental character you have inside you to your kids. Teach them to mingle with other people.  Let your kids learn from the start about RESPECT. Show good examples to the younger generations.

Racism doesn't happen only at home or other places, it also happens in the office. Imagine how extensive racism issue is. The first things we should do is respect yourself as a person. Embrace your race and be proud with it but in a positive way. No religion ever teaches us to hate or pound on each other. Remember that whatever violence actions taken by you, in the name of justice and peace, is actually portraying your own race and religion.

I have seen numerous keyboard heroes putting on racism post. Now tell me, by doing so, what have you achieved? Do they even realize that they have friends from other races as well? Assuming that your friends from other race don't mind. Only a fool will make assumption that it is fine to write so. Well it's not. What you write on your social network wall, portrays who you really are and guess what, eventually you'll lose respect from people. When that happen, don't blame people but yourself.

I went to Tesco food court yesterday to have dinner with the family. Went to the cucur udang (prawn fritters) counter to order food. The hawker thought I was a Chinese, so he didn't say much. My mum came by my side to pass me the Tesco card to collect points and went off. The man said 'I thought you were a Chinese'. I guess because at that time, my raging hormones was on peak due to my monthly cycle and the man chose the wrong girl to joke with, I replied monotonously 'Don't assume that every person who looked like a Chinese is a Chinese. Same goes to don't assume that every Indians are Indians, they can be Muslims as well' . My intention was just to make him realize not to judge. See my point? People tend to assume and judge which for me, is never ok when it comes to this.

So, please make a fool of yourself. Be careful with what you write, read and post. Don't make things worst.
