Trop Fest was amazing and it was the first time ever being held in Malaysia. I did not regret sitting under the hot sun during the day and 3 (me, Juan and Nic) of us stayed till the end. We brought our own mat even though the organizer provided chairs and extra mat. Ours are bigger :-)
There were 12 short films to be contested (max length was 7 minutes) and they represent finalists from Vietnam, Malaysia, Philippines, Cambodia and Thailand. All 12 films were great and I believe the judges (one of them were Sharifah Amani. Ohh, she's cute in person) are having hard times to pick 3 winners for the film festival. The theme for this year's festival was rice. Each films represents different interpretation of rice.
Don't worry about food, because you have varieties to choose from but there were no nasi melayu available. I was hungry for rice at that time but Juan bought 20 sticks of satay with nasi impit, cucumber and onions. They cost RM18 bucks for 2 cups. Yes, each cup has 10 sticks. I dare not shit after that. Hahahaha.
For me, the highlight of the event was, Muslim friends were given 10 minutes for Maghrib and Isya' prayer respectively which I think it was a very good and considerate move. It was the first time I experienced this. As I mentioned in my FB post, I see all walks of life gather at the same spot and all of us were having fun. It is an event that I will definitely attend again.
See more @ Trop Fest FB.
